Follow these steps to make sure there are no issues using the CHIMU with an FTDI based USB Node (or other FTDI serial converter). Remember, CHIMU only has 3.3V level I/O. Do NOT use an RS-232 level adapter, it will damage the unit. 1) Run / install the USB drivers 2) Run the GUI installation package 3) Plug CHIMU into the USB board. Be careful with orientation and that the pins line up! 4) Plug USB cable into both USB Node and PC. Windows should detect a USB serial device and install the drivers for it. 5) Run the GUI. Select and open the USB com port. 6) Flip the switch on the USB Node to ON. Lights should start blinking and data appear in the GUI. Troubleshooting: - If lights start blinking before you flip the switch, the switch is already on. This can trick Windows into thinking the unit is a mouse. This will only occur if the unit is turned on when the USB cord is plugged in. - If nothing happens, verify that the serial port is correct. USB Node flashes red if you hit keys or try to transmit to the CHIMU unit, and green when the CHIMU is sending data to the PC.
